Have you ever met someone with a magnetic personality? If you know Matthew, you have! It has been such a privilege to watch him grow up, overcome obstacles most hope to never endure, and excel in whatever he does. God sure has a plan for him and I’ve been blessed to get a front row seat of the process over the last several years. As Matthew celebrates becoming an Eagle Scout today, I can’t think of a better day to honor him here.

Matthew, it is truly a blessing to know you and we are so very proud of you! “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your way acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” Proverbs 3:5-6

I was also able to attend and photograph his graduation where I witnessed the thrill of parents present a well earned diploma to their graduate. Congratulations Van and Jennifer, you’re sending a Christ loving man on a mission into the world to be a difference maker! And congratulations Matthew on all you have achieved! I can’t wait to see what you have in store for Samford and beyond!

Graduation

  • Jennifer Myers - I seriously could not imagine BETTER images to capture this shooting star’s personality! You did an awesome job, as usual, my precious friend. Thank you a million times over. 😘ReplyCancel

    • Trenity Whitfield - Girl, you make me blush with those sweet words! You know how much fun I have doing this. Glad I could do it for you!!ReplyCancel

Fire photography has always interested me. Since I’ve seen what burning steel wool could produce photographically, its been on my bucket list. Thankfully, I have an equally interested apprentice, Kara of Kara Grace Photography, who rekindled my excitement and added a few more items to the burn list. We finally nailed down a night to shoot. It was all fun and photographs until I tried to set the woods on fire! But thankfully, Kara was able to stomp out the flames before we needed an extinguisher!

Robertson Engagement Session

I really, really, really want to post Abby and Arron’s wedding, but first. . . their engagement. I have had so much fun photographing this beauty. Although I have photographed her a family, senior portraits, engagement, and wedding, I have not gotten my fill of Abby (and Arron, he was there for 3 of those 4 sessions)! Not only are they meant to be on the cover of a magazine, but they have the most fun personalities ever. Abby always comes with ideas, and you know how much I LOVE that. And Arron, well, isn’t it clear he simply adores Abby?

For the start of their engagement session, they wanted to return to Buck Creek where Arron proposed. When Mark and I were driving to meet them, the weather radar was the most important app on our phone. It was pouring down rain, and we weren’t sure if we would get a break to shoot. But just before Abby and Arron arrived, the sky cleared and we had a beautiful dry evening (without a ton of people to shoot around, thank you rain!).

Next we headed to Morris Ave in downtown Birmingham. And thanks again to the rain, it wasn’t super crowded and we were able to have a dance party right in the street!

Brooke Senior Portraits 01

I’ve known Brooke and her family for several years and was beyond excited when I was asked to shoot her senior portraits. I mean, look at her! She’s a photographers dream. 🙂 I’ve often joked about adopting her as my daughter. Not only is she gorgeous, but her quick wit and charm will make anyone fall in love with her in matter of minutes.

Can you imagine the excitement boost I got when, during her consultation, she told me she wanted to begin her session at a record store? My mind immediately went into brainstorming mode. So I called Seasick Records in Birmingham, and they were super accommodating. We perused old records and I was privileged to share in her reminiscing about concerts she’s enjoyed there. This is what senior portraits are all about, capturing who you are in this moment. Thank you, Brooke, for giving me the privilege of sharing these moments with you!

After the record store we were off to the woods at Vulcan for a more natural vibe.

We ended the evening outside the awesome new Regions Field and Railroad Park as the sun was setting. If you have seen the sunset over “the Ham,” it’s a must do!

Meet Nick. He graduated from Homewood High School in 2015, but I can’t think of a better gallery to start this new site. What a joy it was to spend the evening with him and his sweet mama! Amy contacted me after seeing a family session of a previous client. We met on Morris Avenue and quickly became friends. Nick was so easy to photograph, and in his super cool way just went right along with whatever I asked. By the end of the session , we were at Railroad Park laughing like old friends. Next up, college graduation! See you soon Niesen family!
